About Dr. Kristi Merritt, OD

 

Dr. Kristi R. Merritt received her B.S. from Xavier University of Louisiana. During her years at Xavier University, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She later attended and graduated from Southern College of Optometry in her home town of Memphis, Tennessee. While attending SCO, she was involved in a number of organizations. Some of those included Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, National Optometric Student Association and Student Government Association. Dr. Merritt also served as president and vice president of her graduating class. She was also selected as a member of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society, which is an honor only given to 10% of the graduating class at each school of optometry. Membership is granted to those who show excellence in academics, clinical skills, leadership, and service to the community.

In the July 17, 2006 issue of Vision Monday newsmagazine, Dr. Kristi R. Merritt was featured in the article "The Next Generation of Optometry Leadership" as part of the 50 Most Influential Women in Optical cover story.

Dr. Merritt is currently a member of the American Optomertic Association (AOA), the Georgia Optometric Association, and the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the AOA.
